Environment
The Calathea-family is a group of tropical plants that grows in the bedding of the jungle. This plant will be perfectly suited and enjoyable remain for a long time in a place without direct sunlight and unexposed to draught.
Water
The large leaves indicate that Bicajoux® is a plant that evaporates a great quantity of water and consequently requires a continous damp loam. The advice is to check the humidity of the pot twice a week. Furthermore, no amount of water can be left in the saucer. Substantial variantions to the water supply must be avoided.
Drought stress can shorten the flower's durability.
Placing the plant outdoors during summer and it rains, the leaves will glitter and the plant has a pleasantly refreshing. The plant has a preference of rain water.
Nutrition
The plant does not require a lot of fertilizers. If the plant is growing new leaves, the adequate quantity to add is a half dose of fertilizers (of the quantity advised on the fertilizer's package).
Maintenance
Old leaves and flowers can be cut off at the bottom of the stalk with scissors. The plant can restart to flower.
